Selah?
The Hebrew word, “Selah” (pronounced say-la) can be found in Judeo-Christian scripture: 71 times in Psalms and 3 times in the book of Habakkuk(a prophet of the Old Testament). The word is also used in various places such as Job 28:15,16,19 and Lamentations 1:15. It literally means “to hang” and is understood, depending on the context, as expressing that one should pause, breathe, weigh, measure, reflect, determine value, pray.
As we undertake the task of getting physically and spiritually healthy, we want to engage every aspect of our humanity: body, mind and soul. We want to pause, breathe, reflect, pray, ponder God’s amazing promises and become fit for the earthly journey set out before us.
Selah is a discipline in which we will strive to become the best God intends for us by exercising every aspect of our being: physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
